Butte College Center for International Trade Development
The Center for International Trade Development (CITD) is part of the California Community College Economic and Workforce Development program and Butte College’s Economic Development Unit. Our services are provided at low or no cost to small and medium-sized businesses. We are available Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in our office at 2050 Talbert Drive in Chico, by phone at 879-9049, or by email at WilsonJa@Butte.Edu
Exporting/Importing
Unfortunately, international business training is not part of most college business programs. Consequently, companies often miss opportunities that exist in the global marketplace. Whether it’s off-shore sourcing of the product or service you need or expanding your market to include other countries, the CITD can provide the technical assistance you need.
Foreign Sourcing
The CITD has a working relationship with trade commissioners from many different countries. These commissioners assist us with searches for suppliers of raw materials, component parts, or finished products.
Market Expansion
If you are looking to expand your market through exports, we can help you identify the best international markets for your product. We will customize an international market research project specifically for your company, making it possible for you to maximize your chances for success in the international marketplace.
International Distribution
We can help you design and implement an international distributor search in the markets you select. Working with the Department of Commerce, we can arrange pre-screened distributor applicant interviews for you, together with drivers and interpreters, if necessary.
Logistics Assistance
Take advantage of our service provider directory and multiple databases to select the most qualified service providers for international trade, including shipping companies, freight forwarders, and insurance companies.
Trade Finance Services
We have access to many programs that can help you reduce the risk of doing business internationally, yet still offer competitive terms.
